The food supply chain from field to table is increasingly the focus of attention for lawmakers. Legislation in the agricultural sector, particularly at EU level, has traditionally been mainly support policy, but in recent years the legislative base has been broadened, in particular with regard to sustainability issues in the food chain. Legislative projects on the climate footprint, environmental impact and social sustainability of the agri-food sector will require active involvement of businesses in the sector, as the scale of the changes ahead is enormous.
