The food supply chain, from field to table, is increasingly the focus of lawmakers. Legislation in the agricultural sector—particularly at the EU level—has traditionally been focused on support policies, but in recent years we have seen a broadening of the legislative scope, especially regarding sustainability in the food chain. New regulatory initiatives on the climate footprint, environmental impact, and social sustainability of the agri-food sector will require active business involvement, as the scale of upcoming changes is substantial.
